oki-ni presents MOON by Andrew Weatherall
for those that need an introduction to Andrew Weatherall here is his life, as i know it, in brief: he was a roadie for Killing Joke during the 80′s before becoming a DJ and playing club nights such as Shoom for Danny Rampling and Future/Spectrum for Paul Oakenfold in the later part of that decade. with friends he started Boys Own Recordings and later formed his own label Junior Boys Own. Weatheralls studio work was notable from the beginning, remixing Hallelujah for the Happy Mondays, New Order‘s World Cup anthem, World In Motion and tracks for Primal Scream from their epic and hugely influential Screamadelica album. during the early 90′s he was one of the three Sabres of Paradise which gave way to the duo Two Lone Swordsmen. he has produced Beth Orton, Björk, The Orb, The Future Sound of London, My Bloody Valentine, Manic Street Preachers, James, Siouxsie, New Order, Primal Scream, Fuck Buttons and more
with this mix Andrew Weatherall takes us on a deep and moody journey through his vast record collection with dusted off electronica and ambient tracks sitting alongside contemporary goth from Zola Jesus, lo-fi angst from Perfume Genius and finished off with Johanna Billing‘s cover of Arthur Russell’s This Is How We Walk On The Moon. a perfect ‘headphones’ mix, this is in Mr Weatherall’s own words, ”all killer no filler”. sit back and enjoy . . .
