Grinderman remix album announced

they may have decided to call it a day but Grinderman still have something in store for us in the form of a collection of remixes, reinterpretations and collaborations from their 2010 album Grinderman 2. Grinderman RMX will be released on 12th March  and will pull together some truly superb work from Nick Zinner (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Joshua Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), Robert Fripp (King Crimson), Silver Alert (Grinderman/Bad Seeds Jim Sclavunos), Matt Berninger (The National), Andrew Weatherall (where do i start? here’s a link), Barry Adamson (ex-Bad Seeds/Magazine and superb solo work), UNKLE, and the list goes on. here’s a taster of what to expect:

first up is Nick Zinner’s remix of Bellringer Blues

what we have here are different versions of the two singles from Grinderman‘s second album, last years Grinderman 2, which the lovely people at Mute Records have uploaded onto Soundcloud

firstly is a remix of the albums second single, Evil, which has been rebuilt with incessant beats

next is a version of the albums lead single, Heathen Child, here renamed Super Heathen Child and featuring rock legend Robert Fripp who adds a two-minute guitar solo

and then lastly is another version of Heathen Child in which legendary knob twiddler and beat maker Andrew Weatherall fades the guitars, cranks up the dub and turns this track into something that makes me want to get very stoned, close my eyes and imagine i’m dancing
