DK – Cymatic Frequencies II (Part 1)

DK returns with Cymatic Frequencies II (Part 1), another a/v mix, this time with the first half of his best of 2011 selection, taking personal favourites from his mixes this year and adding suitable and sometimes breathtaking visuals to compliment the audio. DK’s used some original video but for the most part the visuals have been sourced from animation, CGI, short films and archive footage. amongst the artists included here you’ll find Africa Hitech, Machinedrum, Peverelist, Skream, Pearson Sound, Thundercat, Michael Kiwanuka, The Stepkids, Wayne Smith, Tribe of Issachar, Herbie Hancock, Burial and Vangelis

Mr Armtone – A Journey Into Beats’n'Frames (audio/visual mix)

St. Petersburg’s Mr Armtone becomes just the second person to have a guest audio/visual mix on Solid Steel, supplying a packed hour and something of superb tracks, many of which are true classics, along with their counterpart videos. Armtone has edited his selections to perfection and brought us an AV mix worthy of the extremely high standard one has come to expect from the Solid Steel brand. it features, amongst many others, Daedelus, Hexstatic, Jurassic 5, DJ Shadow, Ian Brown, Beastie Boys, Coldcut, Ultramagnetic MC’s and the Pixies remixed by Bassnectar

Skream – Solid Steel Radio Show 26th August 2011

are you in the mood for a disco? if so, then here’s a treat in the form of an exclusive mix for Solid Steel by Skream

he’s better known for his dubstep productions, but his influences spread far and wide and you only have to check out some of his early sessions on Rinse FM to see that Disco and Funk are well represented

this mix starts out with Canadian synth group Lime, then moves onto classic 80′s boogie sounds from Tony Lee and the jazz-funk tinged Space Bass by Slick. there’s also get the sampled Groovin You by Harvey Mason and more recent music from The Bucketheads and Daft Punk, before classic Prince b-side Erotic City, a couple more old favourites and lastly Five Special close the show with Why Leave Us Alone

DJ Food – The Death of Output

here’s what DJ Food said last month about the following, absolutely stunning, THREE HOUR mix of tunes he made from tracks by Output Recordings . . .

“Back at the end of 2006, when Trevor Jackson‘s Output Recordings folded, I put together a 3 hour tribute mix of my favourite tracks. This went out as 3 separate mixes on Solid Steel and I even made a very limited number of facsimile Output CDRs of the mixes. I’ve recently had requests to upload it again so, by the miracle that is Soundcloud, it’s available. I’ve also edited it into one piece finally and the track list is embedded in the Lyrics section of the mp3.”
